About Us

The company traces its roots back to the early 1950’s when the present owner’s father started in business as an electrical contractor. The business became well established and was incorporated as a limited company in 1997. In 2007, the company diversified and opened up a Plumbing division which has now grown to the same size as the electrical division.

Using the experience and knowledge of our senior staff; through generations of change, optimisation, increased safety standards and the continual demand for quality assurance, we continue to set high standards within the industry to showcase our commitment to good practice.

We aim to offer a complete service to clients. From consultation, to design, pricing, budgeting, installation, testing, commissioning and finally maintenance. It is always our intension to provide practical advice on all construction specific matters, by achieving the client’s needs through common sense thinking. Communication with the client is the key to our success and collaborating during the planning process allows us to connect with all the trades involved; making for a better run programme of work.

Malcolm McArthur & Son Ltd has seen many changes in its years as an Electrical contractor and now even more so as an Electrical and Plumbing contractor. The company has seen seven different versions of the IEE wiring regulations as well as many building standards amendments with considerable note to 2005, 2007, 2010 & 2013 versions as residencies become both safer and more energy savvy. We are members of Select (Scotland’s trade association for the electrical industry) and are annually inspected as part of our membership with NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting). We are GasSafe registered and conform to Snipef (Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’ Federation) rules and standards. These memberships and associations help provide assurance that as a contractor, we have the highest levels of accreditation.
